Government and Community Relations

Federal Relations

UC Davis Federal Relations staff act as a liaison between the campus and members of Congress, their staff, the administration, and federal agencies to promote and garner public support for the campus' teaching, research, and public service missions.

The Federal Relations Staff works closely with UC's Office of the President and its Federal Government Relations office in Washington, D.C. to secure federal support for UC and the UC Davis campus. We work with legislators interested in higher education, in the University of California system and UC Davis, including those who represent Northern California; serve on committees critical to higher education; represent constituents who work, learn, or otherwise benefit from the University's presence; or are UC Davis alumni.

With nearly $300 million in federally supported research at UC Davis and more than one-third of our undergraduate students receiving federal financial aid, maintaining good working relationships with federal officials in Washington D.C. is essential.

The UC Davis Federal Relations staff:

  • Assist faculty and staff traveling to Washington, D.C. on University business;
  • Advocate and promote the campus' research and policy agenda with Congressional members, their staff, and federal agencies;
  • Monitor and provide updates to the campus community on federal legislation and the federal budget;
  • Inform federal officials about developments at UC Davis;
  • Coordinate federal advocacy efforts, and;
  • Respond to Congressional inquiries concerning the campus and its programs.
