Position Title
UCAN Student Ambassador
Hello everyone! I'm Jason Yi and I am one of your UCAN Ambassadors for the 2020-2021 academic year!
I am a second year chemical physics major and an avid fan of funk and soul. Before coming to UC Davis, I lead the City of Mission Viejo's Community of Character Committee where I directed initiatives to educate elementary students and to support my community's most vulnerable. Currently, I am a councilman on the UC Davis Department of Chemistry's Undergraduate Advisory Council and a mentor for the Chemistry Peer Mentoring Program. In these positions, I am working to provide a safe and welcome campus for undergraduates. I plan to bring the same passion and dedication for my work to UCAN.
As your UCAN Ambassador, I will fight for every student's right to a quality education at an equitable cost. To do this, I will lobby Washington and Sacramento to increase federal and state financial aide, increase COVID-19 relief packages for the university, and expand COVID-19 screening methods (i.e. contact tracing, symptom monitoring, etc.). Economic standing and individual circumstance should not be barriers to achieving one's dreams.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments about the work UCAN and I are doing, feel free to email me (jtyi@ucdavis.edu) and I'll get back to you as soon as possible, thank you!
